Privacy Policy
The information collected as part of involvement with an Educational Psychologist is important to ensure that we can best support your child. It is important that you know how the information is stored, kept safe and confidential. All data is collected and stored in accordance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements.
Personal Data.
We collect and use the following personal data and information:
• personal data (including name, date of birth and contact details)
• characteristics (including gender, language and ethnicity)
• details of any special educational needs for children
• where appropriate, relevant medical information for children or parents/carers
• where appropriate, relevant information regarding you/your child’s status as a child/young person in care
• attendance/exclusion data from the child/young person’s educational setting
• any additional personal data (including the name/contact details of the parents/carers) that's necessary for us to assess and provide you with the service you require
• previous involvement with professional services
Collecting personal data.
Information is collected by the Educational Psychologist through:
• completion of the ‘Consent Form’
• meetings with you, and your child/young person
• consultation with other professionals
• information from other professional / relevant service reports
• post, email and telephone conversations as appropriate
When we ask you for personal data, we'll ensure you know why we need it, only ask for what is necessary for the work we're undertaking, store it securely, ensure access is only given to authorised staff on a need-to-know basis.
Using personal data.
Your personal data will be used to ensure that the Educational Psychologist can understand how to best help your child, provide the child or young people with appropriate services, ‘sign post’ to support appropriate, and help us develop and improve our services.
Sharing personal data
We may share personal data about you/your child with other relevant professionals who are already involved, or who become involved, during the time that they're known to the Educational Psychologist to provide co-ordinated support. We will not share your personal data with any other organisation or third party other than those set out in this privacy notice without your consent, unless required to do so by data protection legislation, in delivering our statutory functions (Children and Families Act 2014), or such actions are necessary for safeguarding children and young people.
Retaining personal data
Your information will only be kept on file by MyEdPsych for the amount of time required to produce the report, after which it will be deleted or destroyed. The report will be kept on file for reference should future involvement be required. We will retain your data retain it in accordance with the Practice Guidelines of the British Psychological Society (2017): up to the age of 25 years for non-statutory files. We will securely and confidentially delete/destroy this personal data when we no longer have a need to keep it.
